Peljesac, a peninsula in southern Dalmatia, stretches between the Neretva and Maloston gulfs from North and East, and Mljet and Peljesac canals from South and West. 65 km long, it covers 345 square m, with an average temperature of 7°C in January, and 26°C in July. Besides the areas covered in pine trees and Mediterranean plants, a big part is in olive groves, and the higher parts in vineyards which give high quality red wine, lemons and oranges. |
| Peljesac is the only Dalmatian peninsula, an area that isn't big, but has
an abundance of material, spiritual and natural wealth. |
With a prolonged shape, it consists of interchanging rocky hills and fertile valleys. All through the eastern Adriatic, in parts that have been pushed into the sea, you will seldom find that many arable fields, high peaks, and shores that close deep gulfs. The seemingly rough and unconquerable peninsula is more given to vivacity, while the deserted hills give a hospitality to gardened hill-sides, nurtured vineyards and olive groves, and sunny rooftops of stone houses. Every village has its physiognomy, and effectively participates in the making of diversity which Peljesac is loved for and remembered by for a long time to come. |
|
It is a place where you can really wind down, but also have fun, because the locals try every summer to prepare a diverse and interesting cultural and sport program. Everyone will by their own preferences choose a show that interests them the most, from classical music concerts with well known musicians and ensemble from the country and abroad, plays, and concerts by the most popular Croatian musicians.
